DAY #6: A Question for Venus

Kayden Oconnell shares his reflections of the much lauded, beautiful Goddess of Love.  He cannot help but wonder ...

Tell Me Venus
By Kayden Oconnell

Tell me, Venus

This must be a tough gig
A love goddess has no time off
and the expectations
must exceed  the highest peaks
of Olympian desire

We mortals are never sure
how to love you

Adonis made it in
But he was
you know – Adonis

We plod with Vulcan
belching ugly
and burning bridges
that are too hot for feet
born in watery foam

But

Tell me, Venus
Is beauty your badge
or DNA deep

Does immortal circuitry
flood with the hunger and pain
we look for you to calm

Grace sells the paintings
but is small comfort
when the north wind
colds the heart

Tell me, Venus
