To Uranus, the Magician
by Caledonia Skytower
I look for you in the swirl
light, ethereal essence,
a constant churn of echoes,
lessons vaguely remembered.
The brightness obscures
the deeper purpose.
the motion hides steps
leading to surety.
Yet I remember the scent
aftershave of antique charm,
the disarming glint of
humorous hazel eyes.
You left before goodbyes
could connect the edges
left by your loss, a whorl,
coiling, bewitching.
Looking through the haze
of memory and divination
I hear your voice speak,
the word that is my name.
The child me runs
little heeding the conjury,
desperate for the enchantment
of your joyous embrace.
