DAY #30 - By Popular Demand

. . . And because we can, today in celebration of Poetry of the Planets being open for 30 days by posting the entire cycle of quatrains by Singh Albatros, including the one he bravely wrote blind for the soon to open Jupiter.

Enjoy!

1. Mars – the Bringer of War

Do not forget the planet of the spears --
the fight goes on between your loves and fears.
Campfires burn among the soldier stones.
These are the fallen. Bathe them with your tears.

2. Venus – the Bringer of Peace

Please lie upon the white chaise lounge with me
in front of Botticelli's Aphrodite.
Look out to willows and the violet sky
and tune into the highest frequency.

3. Mercury – the Winged Messenger

My headache gets relief from swirling pain
as a memo comes and goes and comes again:
'Ascend the spiral staircase where words fly
and listen to gold twittering in the brain.'

4. Jupiter – the Bringer of Jollity

A president falls and power is transferred
enacting further theatre of the absurd.
The king of planets fuelled by thunder words
keeps nodding to each poet mockingbird.

5. Saturn – the bringer of Old Age

You talk a lot, but horseplay doesn't pay --
again the paper trail has filled your tray.
The candle burns from fat to slim to wax.
Left foot, right foot. Oh shit! it's Saturday.

6. Uranus, the Magician

The lit-up stairs link to your High Command,
the Rainbow Bridge is your pineal gland.
When melatonin flows down through the stem
a pea-sized gate brings Alice to Wonderland.

7. Neptune – the Mystic

Cool planet, you're the fluid part of me,
the blue and royal rhythm of the sea.
Follow the turtle on a nautilus shell.
Between the weeds, my rainbow fish slides free.
